MAXIM LUNSKYworksaboutcontact

Born in 1992, Veliky Novgorod, Russia / Resides and works in Saint Petersburg, Russia

Maxim Lunsky is a contemporary artist best known for his oil paintings and ceramic sculptures depicting human figures hovering on the threshold between emergence and disappearance. Lunsky examines the human condition through the lens of existential philosophy, focusing on the residue of presence while addressing themes of mortality, meaninglessness, isolation, and freedom.

In his work, he seeks to convey neither ultimate hopelessness nor the pathos of resistance, but to capture their simultaneous presence. Through this, he explores the intensity of existence itself and how one maintains the will to live when the surrounding world collapses. A vital direction for him is documenting the sense of incompleteness, emptiness, and the absence of anchors—a condition characteristic of a generation that grew up before screens in an era of digital reality and hyper-consumption. His goal is to use artistic metaphors and abstract codes to communicate the very sensation of what it means to remain human and navigate contemporary life.

Active in the exhibition circuit since 2024, his works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions across Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk, including spaces such as MAISON25, a—s—t—r—a (Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art), Space Four, Krasnokholmskaya (Moscow Exhibition Halls), Open You, ARTMAISON, fab.8. He has also participated in major contemporary art fairs, including the Win-Win Art Fair at Winzavod, Port Art Fair (Sevkabel Port), and Third Place Art Fair. Lunsky was an artist-in-residence at the Konakovo River Club event-hotel program. His artwork is physically represented by MAISON25 Gallery in St. Petersburg, and is available online via the
Cube.Market and Third Place Art Market platforms. His pieces are held in private collections in Russia and Ecuador—including those of regular patrons of MAISON25 and a—s—t—r—a galleries.
